What Happens During a Consultation Call? A Glimpse Into the Process
Aug 08, 2025
When people reach out to me for coaching, they’re often in a moment of transition. They know something needs to shift, but they’re not sure what to prioritize—or how to move forward with clarity and confidence. Many want to make intentional decisions about their career or leadership path, but they’re also navigating real deadlines, expectations, and internal pressure.
That’s why our first conversation matters.
What a Consultation Looks Like
Before our call, I ask each prospective client to complete a brief questionnaire. This isn’t busywork—it’s a way to help you organize your thoughts and make the most of our time together. One recent client arrived prepared and focused, with thoughtful reflections already underway. That prep work helped us dive deeper, faster.
We used his responses to explore where he’d been, what energizes him, and what kind of support would help him navigate his next chapter. He wanted to clarify what would make a role feel fulfilling—and he also needed to make practical progress toward landing a job in the coming months. Like many of my clients, he hadn’t had much mentorship in previous roles and was now seeking thoughtful feedback and ongoing support.
What Clients Are Often Navigating
Most people who reach out for coaching aren’t just thinking about a job search. They’re asking bigger questions, like:
-
How do I figure out what kind of role is a true fit?
-
How do I set myself up for success in a new position?
-
How do I navigate uncertainty without rushing into something misaligned?
They’re not looking for someone to hand them a checklist. They want a process that’s tailored, supportive, and grounded in who they are and how they work best.
How Coaching Supports Progress
Some clients start with one of my self-paced programs, like Clarify My Direction. Others dive right into one-on-one coaching. Everyone progresses differently—but those who combine both often accelerate their clarity and insight. That’s because the structure of the course, paired with personalized coaching, allows you to go deeper and move forward more intentionally.
If you’re someone who values mentorship and feedback—and you're ready to engage consistently, even just a few minutes a day—you’ll likely gain a great deal from the process. It’s not about having all the answers at the start. It’s about showing up, reflecting, and staying connected to what matters.
In the consultation, we explore what’s on your mind, what kind of support you’re looking for, and how I might best help you. There's no pressure to commit right away. My goal is to help you feel grounded and clear about your next step—whatever that looks like.
Curious About Coaching?
You can start by reviewing the course outlines or completing the New Client Application. This gives me the information I need to recommend your best next step.
Clarity, confidence, and direction don’t come after you land the perfect role—they begin to grow the moment you engage with the process. You don’t have to figure it out alone. And you don’t need the perfect plan to begin.
