Clarify Your Career Direction With Confidence
May 23, 2025
When your work no longer fits—or you’re not sure what would—you might find yourself asking: What now?
You’re not alone. Many of the professionals I support are navigating transitions, seeking clarity, or trying to reclaim a sense of purpose in their careers.
In my coaching and in my book, Clarifying What Matters, I guide purpose-driven individuals through the process of untangling their thoughts and reconnecting with what fuels them. This isn’t about choosing the “right” job—it’s about choosing a direction that reflects who you are, what you care about, and how you want to lead.
How to Reflect on What Matters
Career clarity doesn’t come from having all the answers—it starts with better questions. When you pause to reflect on your story, your skills, and your values, you begin to see new possibilities.
Guiding Questions:
– What’s something you’ve enjoyed doing—even if it wasn’t “part of your job”?
– How would it feel to bring more of your values into your work?
These kinds of reflections are central to the framework I share in Clarifying What Matters. The book invites you to examine what’s shaped your career path so far and what you’d like to shift moving forward. It’s designed to help you move from confusion to grounded decision-making, one step at a time.
How Clarity Builds Momentum
Feeling stuck is often a sign that it’s time to step back and realign. Once you begin connecting the dots—between your strengths, interests, experiences, and aspirations—you’ll be in a better position to take intentional steps forward.
Guiding Questions:
– What kinds of work or environments bring out your best?
– What have past challenges taught you about your needs and priorities?
A Client’s Perspective: From Uncertainty to Confidence
To get a sense of what this process can look like, I invite you to hear from Jill—a client who came to coaching seeking clarity about her next chapter. In just a short time, she shifted her mindset, gained confidence, and moved forward with renewed purpose.
"Working with Erica helped me feel confident that no matter which direction I went in, I would be successful." — Jill S.
