When Career Uncertainty Affects More Than One Person

A career transition often reaches beyond the person directly living it.

For some people, this season means navigating a job search, a layoff, a career pivot, burnout, or the pressure of not knowing what comes next.

For others, it means caring about someone who is moving through that uncertainty and wanting to help, while not always knowing how.

I see both in my work. Some of my clients are the person in transition. Some are trying to support someone they care about through a difficult career season. In both cases, the same truth often shows up: support is not always experienced as support, especially when fear, urgency, or pressure start driving the conversation.

I wrote a new blog post about how to support an adult child through career uncertainty with more steadiness, perspective, and respect.

Read it here âž”

I hope it offers something useful, whether you are navigating career uncertainty yourself or thinking about how to support someone else with more care.

Warmly,

As we talked, it became clear that the challenge was not on...
How to Make a Job Search Feel More Sustainable
Job searching can be exhausting. Even when you are doing all the “right” things, the process can still feel uncertain, discouraging, and hard to sustain over time. That is one reason I keep returning to this reminder: a job search does not only need to be effective. It also needs to be sustainable. Sustainability in a job search can look like: creating a rhythm you can maintain stepping back w...
