When Career Uncertainty Affects More Than One Person

A career transition often reaches beyond the person directly living it.

For some people, this season means navigating a job search, a layoff, a career pivot, burnout, or the pressure of not knowing what comes next.

For others, it means caring about someone who is moving through that uncertainty and wanting to help, while not always knowing how.

I see both in my work. Some of my clients are the person in transition. Some are trying to support someone they care about through a difficult career season. In both cases, the same truth often shows up: support is not always experienced as support, especially when fear, urgency, or pressure start driving the conversation.

I wrote a new blog post about how to support an adult child through career uncertainty with more steadiness, perspective, and respect.

Read it here ➔

I hope it offers something useful, whether you are navigating career uncertainty yourself or thinking about how to support someone else with more care.

Warmly,

Have you ever found someone’s LinkedIn profile or professional bio and immediately felt intimidated? Maybe their title sounded impressive. Maybe their career seemed polished and clear. Maybe you started imagining how wonderful their life must be, how confident they must feel, or how far away you are from having a role like that. That reaction is understandable. A LinkedIn profile can make someo...
