Women’s Visibility, Leadership Presence, and the Joy of Discovery

After speaking with Kimberly Paulk, founder of Purple Thread Strategies, on Conversations with Erica, I kept thinking about the relationship between visibility, clarity, and trust.

What stayed with me was not a formula. It was a way of approaching growth.

Our conversation was about more than career advancement in the conventional sense. It was about becoming more visible, not for the sake of self-promotion, but so that your value is more clearly understood.

We also talked about what coaching can make possible. Kimberly reflected on how having dedicated space to pause, reflect, and receive support helped her strengthen her clarity, direction, and self-trust.

In our conversation, we explored:

  • Why women’s visibility and leadership presence matter

  • How coaching can support clarity and intentional next steps

  • Why you do not need to have everything figured out before moving forward

  • How creativity and discovery can support a fuller, more sustainable life

  • Why building a business is about more than revenue alone

One idea that stayed with me is this:

You do not need to be everything to everyone all at once.

Sometimes the next step is not having the full answer. Sometimes it is allowing yourself to pause, try, learn, and keep going.

If you are thinking about your own visibility, next chapter, or sense of direction, there is something here worth considering.

Are You in the People Business?
After meeting an experienced entrepreneur, wealth manager, and longtime finance professor, Kashif Ahmed, at a Suffolk University event in Boston, I invited him to join me for a conversation on the podcast. What stayed with me was not a tactic. It was perspective. After decades in financial planning and business ownership, his view is simple: you are in the people business. Whether you run a fir...
When talents become strengths, progress follows
It’s common to focus on what feels lacking or underdeveloped. That focus can limit how we see ourselves, how we make choices, and what possibilities we allow ourselves to explore. Experienced professionals often reach moments where they question what they truly excel at or how to name what they bring to the table. This can surface during transitions, periods of growth, or even in the middle of ...
You do not need to see the whole path
I’m trying out a new format for my e-newsletter. You’ll receive a couple of these from me each month, sharing reflections and pointing you toward new writing, podcast conversations, or other work I’ve published that you might want to explore. Snow started falling here in the Northeast this morning. I woke up in a writing mood and spent some time reflecting on a path that comes up often in my wo...
