You do not need to see the whole path
I’m trying out a new format for my e-newsletter. You’ll receive a couple of these from me each month, sharing reflections and pointing you toward new writing, podcast conversations, or other work I’ve published that you might want to explore.
Snow started falling here in the Northeast this morning. I woke up in a writing mood and spent some time reflecting on a path that comes up often in my work.
Many of my clients are self-employed, often in consulting or advisory roles. Many others are seriously considering that direction, even if they are not there yet.
A moment from a recent nature walk kept coming back to mind as I was writing. You do not need to see the whole path to take the next step.
I published a new blog post this morning that takes an honest look at self-employment and consulting. It reflects on common fears like income uncertainty and isolation, real challenges people do not always name, and the benefits that keep people moving forward. It also considers pacing, community, and why this does not have to be an all-or-nothing decision.

If this topic is on your mind, I’d genuinely love to hear what resonates. What feels hardest right now? What feels energizing?
And if this doesn’t apply to you, but someone came to mind who might benefit from feeling less alone as they consider this path, feel free to pass it along.
Since this is a new format for me, I’d also welcome your feedback. What do you like about this style of update? What would make it more useful for you?
Warmly,
Erica
